BSAC Sport DiverCourse Overview The BSAC Sports Diver Course is divided into four elements: 1. Theory Lessons: The course begins with a series of six Theory lessons. Theory lessons may be sub-divided into shorter lessons if limited availability of classroom time makes it necessary.
These lessons are designed to prepare the student for the open water environment and therefore contain essential practical skills.
Open water dives provide the student with an opportunity to put into practice the theory and practical elements learned in the classroom and sheltered water. In Sports Diver training, the emphasis is on building a sound foundation of open water diving skill and experience through a series of four open water experience dives supervised by a BSAC Nationally Qualified Instructor and partnered by a BSAC Assistant Club Instructor (Dive Leader).
Following a successful result the Sports Diver qualification should be awarded. COURSE AIM To produce a diver who has gained open water diving and diver rescue experience and is considered ready to take part in dives partnered by another diver. Sports Divers who have gained the qualification of BSAC Assistant Club Instructor may partner BSAC Club Divers on Branch dives subject to the approval of the Branch Diving Officer. BSAC Sports Divers are restricted to a maximum depth of 35 metres.
